Mr. Hyatt

Expert in: Ecology, Botany, Rare species, Land management.

Mr. Hyatt graduated from the University of Arkansas. He served as Forest Botanist and Ecologist on the Kisatchie National Forest from 1995 to 2003, engaged in GIS, landscape scale land type classification, creation and management of GIS layers, and related rare species management. Prior to that, he had worked on two Forest Service units: Ozark National Forest (1991-1993) and Savannah River Forest Station (1993-1995) for the Forest Service. From 2003 to 2008, he worked as one of nine regional ecologists nationwide in the USDA Forest Service, specializing in administrative appeals and legislation for biological and physical resources (plants, wildlife, fisheries, non-native invasive species, soil, water, and air). As regional vegetation ecologist, he provided leadership on ecological and land classification issues covering 13 southeastern states and Puerto Rico.

Dr. Hyatt has more than 25 years of writing and editing experience, covering a wide range of subjects. For example, he had edited the 500+ page revised Forest Plan which outlined land management for the next 22+years. The plan is still in use today and was formally completed in 1999. In addition, he has edited more than 2000 scientific research papers and a few books covering biology and ecology, land management, global warming, and botany including GIS and remote sensing, and has also edited a wide variety of letters, power-points, brochures, and business documents related to large corporations.
