Prof. Das has more than 30 years of clinical and research experience in the fields of Internal Medicine, Diabetology, Endocrinology, rheumatology, and oncology. Not only that, the research field also covers essential fatty acids, eicosanoids, cytokines, free radicals, nitric oxide, melatonin and their role in various clinical conditions. 12 doctoral students obtained their Ph.D. in Biochemistry under his supervision. Previously, he was the Professor of Medicine at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, India, Scientist at Efamol Research Institute, Kentville, NS, Canada and Professor at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY. He was the recipient of Shakuntala Amirch and prize of ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) in Experimental Medicine in 1988 and Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar prize in Medical Sciences in 1992. Presently, he is the editor-in-Chief of Lipids in Health and Disease published by BioMed Central, U.K., the review editor of Current Nutrition and Food Science by Bentham Publishers and Nutrition by Elsevier and the academic Editor of Medicine. So far, He has published more than 500 research papers in various journals, three books and several patents (5 USA awarded and 2 in India and several pending).
