Prof. Wu holds the Herman Lopata Chair in Hepatitis Research, and has received many academic and research honors and awards including American Liver Foundation Research Prize (1982), NIH Research Career Development Award (1986-1991), American Gastroenterological Association/Industry Research Scholar Award (1985-1988), American Gastroenterological Association/Gastroenterology Research Group Young Scientist Award (1990), Chinese American Medical Society Scientific Award (1992), etc. He was also elected to exclusive national scientific societies such as the American Society for Clinical Investigation (1989), Association of American Physicians (1995), Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (2010), US News and World Report and Castell-Connolly "Top Doctors in America" (2012), Fulbright Scholar Program (2013), and Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (2014). He has served on 9 NIH study sections, and chaired 2. Prof. Wu has published more than one hundred forty peer-reviewed scientific articles, 10 books, more than one hundred book chapters and abstracts, ten patents, and made more than two hundred presentations at national and international congresses. He is currently the Comprehensive Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology, Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Digestive Diseases, and the Series Editor for “Contemporary Gastroenterology” published by Springer Press. He is a member of the editorial board for many national and international scientific journals, including Gene Therapy and Regulation, World J. Gastroenterology, Journal of Digestive Diseases, etc.
